Preparation and experience

Dr. Alexander Vigo-Valentín is the founder and director of NovateWellness. He earned a doctorate from The Ohio State University in Exercise and Physical Activity Pedagogy, with a specialization in Physical Activity and Health Promotion. Over more than 15 years, he has built a career connecting research, public policy, evaluation, higher education, and institutional leadership.

His work is grounded in a clear conviction: increasing physical activity requires much more than creating programs. It requires leaders who can align evidence, decisions, environments, organizations, and resources to produce change that can be implemented, measured, and sustained.

Research and applied experience

In Puerto Rico, he has co-directed research on adolescent physical activity, dietary habits, and body composition; directed the external evaluation of a government health and wellness initiative; studied physical activity policies and opportunities in secondary schools; and provided program-evaluation technical assistance to the Department of Health. His experience also includes federal public service, academic leadership, and more than a decade in higher education, where he has prepared professionals in research methods, curriculum and program development, evaluation, and the determinants of physical activity.

Academic contributions

His contributions include scientific publications, academic chapters, and work related to national health and youth sports strategies. This combination of academic rigor, cultural knowledge, and applied experience allows him to translate complex evidence into clear decisions, feasible solutions, and tools that work in real-world settings.

Leadership at NovateWellness

Through NovateWellness, Dr. Vigo-Valentín advises governments, organizations, universities, school systems, and leadership teams that need to turn a physical activity priority into a strategy capable of producing results. His leadership defines the firm’s mission: moving physical activity from the margins of public initiatives to the center of the decisions that determine how communities live, develop, and thrive.

Applied experience

A connected perspective, from public policy to practice.

NovateWellness approaches physical activity challenges as systems: decisions, environments, programs, people, and evidence that must work in coordination.

Doctoral preparation and experience in research, public service, and higher education provide the rigor required to assess evidence, understand complex systems, and develop responsible recommendations.

Every engagement is oriented toward clear decisions, usable deliverables, and stronger internal capacity so the work can be implemented, evaluated, and sustained.

Professional contributions are presented as evidence of experience and do not imply institutional endorsement of NovateWellness.
